“She told me a story that sent chills down my spine.”

Cancel my order now!  That is what I told the man on the phone.  I said nothing but bad is going to come of this, so please cancel my order!

That is what occurred last week, and I’ll tell you a very odd story and how it came about.

I needed some work done in my back yard.  Things were piling up in the rec room that had formerly been in my garage, and I needed someone to build me a shed so I could store things.

I had asked my friends for recommendations but no one knew of a good contractor, or at least someone who had done work for them recently who was capable and honest.

Just at that time, I received a flier in the mail from a handyman who said he was a professional carpenter and could build anything; and that he could do it quickly and reasonably.

I called him immediately and within a few hours, he was walking through my back yard giving me an idea of what the shed would look like and what it would cost.  He seemed to be a likable guy and I felt he could do the job.

Then a weird thing happened.  I started having bad dreams, and some of them revolved around the new shed.  I saw it getting darker and darker, and it seemed like it was surrounded by evil spirits.  It was very, very strange…and nothing like this had ever happened to me before.

I figured it was nothing more than the normal feelings one gets when dealing with new people – until I received a phone call from a neighbor down the street.  She had seen the man’s van parked in front of my house and she told me a story that sent chills down my spine.

She had hired him for a small job on her property several months ago, and he had stolen valuable tools from her garage.  Although she couldn’t prove anything, and therefore didn’t call the police, she was certain he did it.  She cautioned me to never let him on my property again.

I felt my dreams were a warning, and I called and told him not to come.  I just wish I could alert other people to this man but there’s nothing I can do.

“Was this a forecast of disaster for our new place”?

It was moving day, and Jeff, my husband, was acting odd.

He’s a calm, self-contained person and as solid as a rock.  But something was wrong, I could tell by his look.  When I asked him about it, he said everything’s OK, not to worry.

This is what was going through my mind as we were awaiting the moving van to arrive.  We had been shopping for a home for over a year.  Finally, we located a house in the suburbs where we felt the kids could go to a good school and we could live there for years to come.

While I was standing outside the front door, watching hopefully for the moving van, Jeff came up to me and said he was feeling weird.  He took my hand and said he was having visions and thoughts racing through his mind, but, unfortunately, they weren’t clear, and he was a bit confused.

He said something odd was going on, but he didn’t know what.  I had never seen him this way, and I was concerned.  Also, the van was late, and that troubled me as well.

Jeff said that premonitions of disaster were taking over his mind and that he knew something had happened.  He just knew it.

Now the van was half an hour late.  Then an hour, then two hours.  We called the company but no one answered.  The phone kept ringing but no one picked up.

We were beside ourselves with anxiety because we had sold our current house and the new owners were prepared to move in the next day.  What were we going to do if these guys didn’t show?  And was this a forecast of disaster for our new place?

Then the phone rang.  There had been a horrible accident on the freeway.  Our moving van wasn’t involved, but they were sitting there unable to move.  They said things were starting to clear up and they would be here in thirty minutes.

All of a sudden, Jeff ran out to the front lawn where I was standing. He had the TV on and he was watching the helicopter hovering over the accident.  He said the disaster he was watching on TV was the same vision that had been in his mind since the moment the van was late.

He said, “I saw it happen.  I saw one car ram into the center divider and bounce off and slam into another car.  I saw the entire thing in my mind.”

Well, the moving van finally arrived, and we have been living in the new house for several weeks.  And my normally calm, skeptical husband is still telling everyone about his premonition of disaster.

“I had a vision of him being in a very tight place, unable to escape.”

Some people say you get what you deserve.  I don’t necessarily agree with that.  Here’s my story.

I live on the outskirts of Boise, Idaho.  I have two small children and am the sole supporter of my family.  My marriage ended seventeen months ago, and I’m sorry to say Kent, my ex, is in prison.

He’s a bad person, an evil person, and thank God, I don’t think we’ll ever see him again.  I hope not, anyway.

Kent had been in and out of trouble since he was a teen, and my folks had warned me that he would never change.  I thought I could change him, particularly when we had the children.  How wrong I was.

The kids and I were at home one evening waiting for Kent.  Dinner was on the table and I was worried about him.  He had been out of work for over six months and had shown no inclination to get a job.

He was hanging around with riff-raff, all bad guys, and I knew they were up to no good.  The kids were getting hungry and I couldn’t wait any longer.  I put the food on the table and we ate.  But something in my heart told me life would never be the same.

I called my sister, Jan, and told her that I was certain that something bad had happened to Kent and I didn’t know what to do.  I told her I had a vision of him being in a very tight place, unable to escape.  She suggested I call the local hospital, but frankly I was too scared to find out.  I was frozen with fear.

Then the phone rang.  It was from Kent, and at first I cried with relief to hear his voice.  Then I realized why he was calling and where he was.

Kent was calling from jail.  He and two other men had robbed a convenience store, but as they were doing so, a police car had driven up and the cops were heading for the entrance.

Kent said he and the other two men ran into a back room thinking they could escape out the back door.  But there was no rear entrance, and the clerk had slammed the door shut behind them.  They were trapped in a small room just as I had visualized.

Just let me forewarn everyone out there:  people don’t change.  We are who we are.  We can make adjustments, certainly, but our character is stamped on us at birth.  I learned that the hard way.

“Isolated, alone, and frightened to death”

This is a story I wouldn’t wish on anyone.

It was a Tuesday afternoon and my good friend, Molly, and I were hiking in a forest preserve in Northern California.  It was a cloudy day and we had just arrived a day earlier from our home in New York.

This is the vacation we had talked about for the last year.  Little did we know, this might not only be our last vacation, but possibly our last days on earth.

We were on an isolated trail when we thought we heard strange noises, a kind of rustling sound, off to our left.  Molly and I looked at one another inquisitively, but we just shrugged.  We had no idea what the sounds meant.  Was it a person, or an animal?

We walked for another mile or so, occasionally hearing the same sounds.  It was following us for sure but careful to remain out of sight.

We were scared, but there was nothing we could do because we were at least a good hour from any kind of civilization.  And our cell phones were useless.  Even if we could make a phone call, who could find us.

Here we were on a trail far away from people; after all, that was the goal we had set out to accomplish – being on our own, isolated from the world.

And there were the sounds again.  In desperation and frightened half to death, Molly shouted out and said if you’re there, come out and reveal yourself.  The sounds instantly stopped.

We stared at each other and we were beside ourselves with fear.  We started moving faster down the trail and at first heard nothing, but, sure enough, the noises about thirty yards away indicated whoever or whatever it was, was tracking us.  And getting closer.

Then, as the trail took a sharp turn, we almost ran into two other hikers.  Two strapping, young men, and we could tell instantly, they were good people.  We almost cried with relieve and told them what was going on.

One of the men looked over our shoulders and pointed at something moving away from us.  It was a bear, and without a doubt, it had been on our trail.

Robert, one of the men said he had a premonition that someone was in trouble.  He said they were starting to head back to their car but the feeling had been overwhelming and Robert insisted they stay out on the trail for a little longer.

That premonition may have saved us from harm.

“He used his psychic ability in ways most people couldn’t or wouldn’t.”

Michael was a childhood friend.  We used to hang out together, and we remained the best of friends since the second grade.

As the years went by, my parents couldn’t understand why I insisted we were platonic since I refused to date anyone else.  But there was a reason.  Actually, there were several reasons.

Michael knew me.  I mean he really knew me.  I’m not going to reveal whether or not we had sex together, but he could read me better than anyone else on earth.  I admired his intellect, his humor, and perhaps most of all, his incredible perception.

Michael has this amazing ability to not only read my mind but others as well.  And he used his psychic ability in ways most people couldn’t or wouldn’t.

Let me give an example:  When we were in high school, he would give me clues what events were about to occur.  Not the mundane stuff, but important events in the news.  He would do this time after time.  And it was seemingly impossible for anyone to do so.  But not impossible for my good friend.

He once predicted a serious downturn in the stock market, and called it right on the exact day.  He predicted the death of several famous people.  He predicted worldwide catastrophes such as plane crashes, tornados in specific places, etc.

He also told me my aunt who was fifty-one and who had never married had finally found a good man and would soon marry him.  Michael had met her the year before and I could see they had an immediate connection; they were on the same wavelength.  Naturally, when I called her, she was shocked because she had told no one.  But when I explained Michael had clued me in, we both laughed because she and I knew what remarkable powers he had.

Well, Michael’s parents divorced the beginning of our senior year.  His mother took him out to California and although we stayed in touch by letter for a year or so, we kind of drifted apart.

The reason I’m writing this is that a few weeks ago, I heard through a mutual friend that Michael had died in an automobile accident while on vacation in Europe.  He was forty-three, single, had never married.  When I first met my husband and told him about Michael, he was a bit jealous so we never spoke much about him.  I suppose he knew I loved Michael – perhaps a bit more than just in a platonic way.  And I’ll miss him terribly.
