“He would wink and say what psychic?”

Rocky Marciano (1923-1969) was the world heavyweight champion, and the only heavyweight champion to retire undefeated.

Although he participated in a brutal sport, Marciano was known for his quiet demeanor and unassuming manner.

What wasn’t publicized was his belief in the supernatural.  Champ, as his friends would call him, would occasionally consult a psychic; he would do so in private for fear it would be a sign of weakness.

Few, if any, of his close associates knew of Marciano’s visits, but one confidant told this story:

“The Champ visited this old woman in her tiny shop in a rundown part of town.  When he walked in you could see that she recognized him, and I assumed he had been there before.  But Marciano told me afterwards, he had never been there previously.

“The old lady had him sit right beside her, and she held his hand.  Then she told him how much longer he would dominate the other boxers and how important it was for him to call it quits after four more fights.

“At the time I thought she was nuts because Rocky was still in great shape and I didn’t see anyone dethroning him in the near future, but I’ll be damned if he didn’t walk away from the ring after that fourth fight.

“The Champ never confided to me that he did it because of what she had forecast, and whenever I asked him about it, he would wink and say what psychic?”

“She envisioned the ambush that took their lives, but Clyde failed to heed her warning.

Bonnie Parker (1911-1934) and Clyde Barrow (1900-1934) were the infamous US criminals who carried out a series of robberies in the Southwest.  They were eventually betrayed and then killed in a police ambush.

On the morning of their last day on earth, Bonnie had a premonition that death awaited them.  She expressed her concern to Clyde who at first heeded her warning, but then insisted everything would be OK.

Apparently, Clyde at first drove off without her when she refused to get in the car.  But after several minutes, he returned to get her and convinced her that her vision was only in her imagination.

It was said that Bonnie had a highly developed ESP and that Clyde apparently often relied on her psychic abilities.

Police had trouble tracking Bonnie and Clyde, and more than one officer of the law commented that it was as if the bandits “stayed out of harm’s way because they were could see what was around the bend.”

Before Bonnie met Clyde, she said she had dreamed of spending her life with an outlaw and that when he eventually showed up, he looked exactly the way she had envisioned.

“He could have taken my life, but for whatever reason he close not to.”

Marquis de Lafayette, the French soldier who fought the British in the American Revolution was a believer in psychic phenomenon.

In his memoirs he recounted several episodes of paranormal activities, a number of which he believed were lifesaving.

Lafayette recalled one instance in which he sensed imminent danger.  “I was atop my horse when I felt I was going to be struck by an enemy bullet.  I turned and stared into the barrel of a gun held by a young British soldier.

“We made eye contact, and both he and I knew if he fired the gun, I’d be dead.  But somehow in that moment, we made a connection.  I don’t understand how or why, but the young man lowered his rifle and we stared at each other for a moment.  I tipped my hat to him and nodded.  He did the same and we went on our way.

“I don’t know what happened to him, or whether or not he survived the war, but he could have taken my life that day. For whatever reason, he chose not to.  I owe him my life.”

On another occasion, prior to a battle that Lafayette felt could go either way, he consulted with an astrologer who advised him to take a different course of action due to the stars being aligned in a certain way.

Lafayette recounted how he failed to listen to the advice, and in the ensuing battle his forces suffered a severe setback, precisely the way the astrologer had predicted.

“It did help me at the poker table.  I’ve made a lot of money.”

My profession is business.  I am the owner of a medium-sized company, and I often apply my psychic skills to help give us an edge on the competition.

I first started to notice my “gifts” when I was a youngster.

Mostly, it occurred on the ball field where I often found myself anticipating what was about to occur.  If it was a baseball game and I was at the plate, sometimes I could just “feel” where the exact location of the pitch would be.  If it were in football, I’d know where the quarterback was going to throw the ball.

It didn’t happen every time, otherwise I’d be making millions, but it occurred often enough to alert me that I had something extra going for me.

And it did help me at the poker table.  I’ve been playing for years, have made a lot of money – a lot of money – and I must admit I’ve been tempted to play professionally.  Because my business was handed down to me by my father, and to him by his father, I feel it’s my obligation to keep the tradition going.  One day my son, if he’s interested, will follow suit.

My psychic skills help me anticipate what my competition is going to do and when.  I can usually read the mind of the person sitting on the other side of my desk and help negotiate the best product at the best price.  Some people may call this intuition, but what I have is far beyond what the normal person feels.

And in my personal life, I can anticipate what my lovely wife is thinking, trying to keep one step ahead of her.  And I believe my oldest child, Emily, who is now in her last year of medical school, is benefiting from the same psychic powers.  We have had many long talks about it, and she says she knows she has these powers and has used them in a positive way.  Needless to say, I am very proud of her.

Life is sometimes difficult, but with this added edge, it’s a definite help.

“He started thinking about me a week or so ago and couldn’t get me out of his mind.”

I come from a working class family.  Everything I’ve ever earned was due to hard work and dedication.

However, I want to tell you about an experience that brought me happiness and joy that I never dreamed of.  And it was all due to luck, or what some might call – psychic intuition.

It occurred several days ago and I had to write you and tell you about it.  That’s how excited I am.

A good friend of mine, Mel, called and said he had something urgent to show me.  At the time I was busy with work and a personal problem I was having with one of the kids, and I tried to postpone getting together.  But I could tell by the tone of Mel’s voice, and his insistence that we meet immediately, that I had to concur with his wishes.

The moment I saw Mel, I knew something was up.  He took me by the arm and led me into his small office, which was located in the rear of his home.  He unwrapped a package and showed it to me.

It was beautiful sculpture of a horse.  It was made of bronze and was stunning.  He said his uncle Josh with whom he had been out of touch with for some time had sent it to him out of the blue.  It was a very touching gift from someone he hadn’t seen in over a year.

Obviously, his uncle cared a great deal for Mel, and it was reflected in the quality of this gorgeous gift.

Then Mel handed me another package.  This one was smaller, and to my surprise, it had my name on it.  I didn’t understand and was a bit shocked because I had only met Mel’s Uncle on one occasion.  Although I do remember we really clicked, and had spent a good part of the day together.

You see, I have been divorced for many years, and Josh had never married.

I opened the package to find a beautiful bracelet. It was stunning, in fact.  I didn’t know what to say.  What was puzzling to me was that Josh had popped into my mind recently and I simply couldn’t stop thinking about him.  Yet, we hadn’t seen each other for at least a year, and that was the only time we had been with each other.

In fact, we hadn’t even communicated by letter or email since that time.

Well, there was a note included in the package, and Josh wrote this beautiful little poem that essentially said he started thinking about me a week or so ago (the same time I started thinking about him), and couldn’t get me out of his mind.  And he wanted to send me something.

Needless to say, I wrote him a nice note and said I’d look forward to seeing him again.  He’ll be in town next month and I can’t wait to see how things develop.

“Dysfunctional Family Can’t Hold Her Back”

I was told it could not be done.

This is what my father told me time and time again, especially when I wanted to try something I had never done before.

You see, my father was not a daring man.  Well, that wasn’t the problem; the problem was he couldn’t bear to see me succeed.  Somehow my success would amplify his failure in life, and his purpose in life was to hold me back.

I was fifteen at the time and I wanted to try out for the cheerleading team.  He told me I was too heavy, he told me I was clumsy, he told me I wasn’t bright enough to learn the various steps, the complicated cheers.  And worst of all, he told me the other girls wouldn’t accept me because I wasn’t pretty enough.

What a father.

So, I tried out, anyway.  And to his utter dismay, I made it.  Well, kind of.  I was an alternative.  But, hey, when you come from a family like mine – a totally unsupportive, dysfunctional group – well, this was a grand success.

So, you might ask, how did I make it?  I’ll tell you.

I’ve always been the type of person who isn’t afraid of failure.  And it doesn’t hurt that I have kind of a sixth sense that tells me exactly where to go and how to do it.  I’ve always been able to read minds.  And as for new ideas, I swear they’re floating in the air.

I believe I am psychic.  I certainly have had psychic experiences since I was a small child.  And I have survived because of this inner voice I hear inside my head that leads me to the right place at the right time.  Some may call it luck.  I call it intuition.

And I’m married now; I can honestly say, happily.  And when my kids try to pull the wool over my eyes, they know by now it’s impossible because I know what they’re thinking.  And, incidentally, my oldest, Sara, turned out exactly like me.  As a result, we often communicate silently.  She has even more psychic ability than me.
